A Message from the Pastor's Desk

It is great to come to share with you again. I have been very busy this past season with Easter and all that goes with celebrating the resurrection of Christ in our lives. We have recently been able to walk the journey with Christ through His story and it has been a wonderful reminder of all the love God has for us and God's willingness to connect with us through the story of Jesus death and resurrection.

At this time we begin a new phase of our Christian, annual journey into Pentecost. It is a time of remembering the presence of the Holy Spirit which God has sent to be with us until Christ comes again. The Spirit came upon the people gathered in the upper room and, in the message of Acts, spread throughout the communities and the world. God sent His presence to be with us and to revive us and sustain us during this time. As we celebrate the beginning of the Christian church on Pentecost we remember all the struggles and the joys of being a disciple of Jesus Christ working in the world.

Go to the Book of Acts and read the admirable stories of the followers of Jesus as they went out to spread the message of God's saving grace for your life and the lives of others. Make this be the season that you fully embrace the calling to be a believer and a follower of Jesus Christ. Come and learn the way through: worship, prayer, community and study, with us at Centenary United Methodist Church. We worship every Sunday at 10:00 am. All are welcome. Come and feel the Spirit move in your life today.

May the peace of the presence of the Holy Spirit and the power of God's love through Jesus Christ revive you this holy season.

Rev. Nancy Collins
